You must have seen Lord Shiva wearing a garland of Rudraksha. Rudraksha is considered very sacred due to its association with Lord Shiva. All kinds of troubles are removed from life just by wearing Rudraksha. According to religious texts, Rudraksha originated from the tears of Lord Shiva. Therefore, it is considered to be the form of Lord Shiva. When Lord Shiva opened his eyes after meditating for many years for the welfare of creatures, then drops of tears fell and Mother Earth gave birth to Rudraksha trees.

Meaning of Rudraksha
Rudraksha is considered very sacred in Hinduism. Rudraksha is made up of two words. The first word is Rudra meaning Lord Shiva and the second word is Aksha meaning eye. It is believed that wherever tears fell from Lord Shiva's eyes, Rudraksha trees grew there.

Mythological stories related to the origin of Rudraksha

According to Devi Bhagwat Purana, a demon named Tripurasur was proud of his power, due to which he started tormenting the gods. Even no god or sage could stand before Tripurasur. Troubled, Brahma, Vishnu and other gods went to Lord Shiva with a prayer to end the terror of Tripurasur. When Mahadev heard this request of the gods, he closed his eyes in yoga posture. After a while, when Lord Shiva opened his eyes, tears fell from his eyes on the earth. It is believed that wherever Lord Shiva's tears fell, Rudraksha trees grew there. Rudraksha means Shiva's destructive third eye. Therefore, the fruits that grew on these trees were called 'Rudraksha'. After this, Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasur with his trident and freed the earth and Devlok from his atrocities.

According to another legend, when Mother Sati committed suicide by jumping into the fire pit, Mahadev was distraught and was roaming the three worlds lamenting with her burnt body. It is said that due to Shiva's lamentation, Rudraksha trees grew wherever Lord Shiva's tears fell.

Rules for wearing Rudraksha
The person wearing Rudraksha should worship Lord Shiva every day.Never wear Rudraksha worn by someone else nor make someone else wear your Rudraksha.While making a Rudraksha mala, keep in mind that it should have at least 27 beads.Never touch Rudraksha with dirty hands. Wear Rudraksha only after taking a bath.Always wear Rudraksha in a red or yellow colored thread. Never wear it in a black thread.If you have worn Rudraksha, then do not consume non-vegetarian food. Doing this will only harm you.
